How To Get Through Trouble…

I love to read novels. Political thrillers are my favorite. In these stories it is common for special trained agents to risk life and limb for the service of their country. These heros are constantly placed in life threatening situations to accomplish perilous assignments. As I read through their trouble, I’m tempted to peek ahead in the book to find out what happens. Sometimes I do.  Continue reading “How To Get Through Trouble…”

A “Come To Jesus” Moment…

IMG_0043

It’s been a whirlwind since the last time we were here. Following Jesus is quite eventful. Since the wedding feast, we have been to Passover in Jerusalem, through Samaria, and in Jesus’ home town of Capernaum. We baptized many near Salim, and now we are back to Cana. A Journey…

I have been struggling to write for about a week. Its not that I haven’t been writing. I’ve been writing plenty, just not anything I would want to publish or you would want to read.

I’ve been tapped. No ideas, no inspiration or wisdom to share. I would write, stare at the screen and start over, and over and over again. The product has not been worthy of this site.

I want to project proficiency and wisdom. To give you, the reader, a sense of awe in my abilities as a wordsmith. To show off my writing skills with the hope of attracting more followers. Just as important, I want to do it every day! But lately…nothing. Continue reading “A Journey…”

United States?

A fight is usually the result of opposing forces trying to enforce their respective will. In the United States, we seem to be having a lot of that lately.

We are anything but united.

Our government has become a forum of disagreement rather than progress, where hate is replacing debate, vitriol replacing decorum, and idiology replacing patriotism. Continue reading “United States?”

My Way?

IMG_0028

In 1969, Frank Sinatra recorded the big hit My Way.  It climbed the charts in America and sat at number one in the U.K. for 75 weeks.  It was recorded by other big artists including Elvis Presley. It is a song of reflection, of how a life was lived.

When I look back at most of my life, my successes and failures, this song could be my anthem. A memorial to who I was. No matter what I see, I can testify, it was my way. Continue reading “My Way?”

A Personal Appeal…

Dear Reader,

First let me tell you how much I appreciate your dropping in to read what I write. I know it’s getting to be a cliche, but I am humbled by your readership.

The fact that people from China, India, England and Kenya (to name a few) have come here just blows my mind. God gets all the Glory because after all, it was his idea.

Now I’m going to ask for yours. I would like for you to send me any topic you would like me to cover within the theme of the site, Faith-Politics-Christian Living, etc…

If you twist my arm, I might consider SEC football and it’s dominance of the NCAA. (Can’t wait for the mail on that).

Just go to the contact page and send me an email. Your address is safe from marketers or the public in general.

Thanks for your response in advance.

Sincerely,

Will

Words, Part 3

img_0026Words That Encourage God…

I love football!  I’m not sure I’m what you call a rabid fan, but I am a noisy one.

The pageantry and tradition; the competition and my regional attachment is what draws me to the teams I follow. Continue reading “Words, Part 3”

Words, Part 2…

img_0025
Today we continue our series on Words.

Yesterday in Words that encourage myself, I shared three verses of scripture that encourage me. The Bible is filled with many others, a quick Google search will give you dozens. I also shared the most encouraging words are not straight out of the Bible, but rather spoken from the mouth of a friend.

Today I want to cover being that friend.

Part 2 Words That Encourage Others… Continue reading “Words, Part 2…”

Words…

Words are important. What we say to one another (and how we say it) can have a lasting effect.

Think of the last time you had an argument with someone you cared about. The wrong thing was said and then…BAM! relationship took a downward turn and extended repair was required. Or the time that same person spoke words that provided comfort and hope. Think of the warmth and endearing affection that followed. Continue reading “Words…”
